Oct. 25, Friday: Art at the Villa – All Day.
And it was the final day. We all got dressed up, took some photos, and went off for our celebration dinner, which lasted from 7-11 p.m. The French really know how to dine…and to socialize! Some of our group were surprised by the length of the meal, but it is really different here than it is in the states. Everyone enjoyed the event anyway. Then it was home to collapse into bed.
Today everyone went off to do whatever they wanted to. I am off duty. But I have a cold, so I stayed at the villa and took care of myself. I swam in the pool, soaked in the hot tub, soaked in the bath tub, laid in the sun for awhile, then spent the afternoon catching up on these blog posts. Almost done! But this will probably be the last one until I return home. I’ve enjoyed keeping contact with everyone this way. Thank you to all of you who took the time to read this blog, and to those who kept me company by sending comments. Hugs to all of you!

One of the art sessions. I only took a couple of photos on Friday because the work sessions and critique sessions were very fast-paced and intense, so I was very focused – so were the students.

I’m going to post a couple of these photos so that we each have a chance to look good. Someone is making a funny face in all of them – this time it’s me!

And in this one Elizabeth has her eyes closed. But she looked good in the last one and I look better in this one. Everyone else is looking mighty fine, too, wouldn’t you say?

From the other end of the table. Obviously, we hadn’t been waited on yet, not even water. Once the festivities and food began, I forgot all about taking photos. Wow, what a week! Couldn’t have been better. This group melded together amazingly well. Thank you to my 9 students and the partners who came with them for treating Carl and I to this fun meal – you are very, very generous. I will miss everyone!! Now, on to Provence, head cold be damned – we have rented a very cool BMW!! It’s not a convertible, but I had that experience already, thanks to S and T, plus the weather is cooler now in the mornings and evenings. Don’t know where we are going yet, but plan to have a great time!!

Sounds (and looks) like you had a very successful workshop along with a wonderful, fun, challenging experience; the villa view, pool, patio etc. was enviable, despite the harrowing travel to and fro. I’m looking forward to hearing more details!. Sorry about the colds and hope the French had some remedies. Have a great trip in Provence!
