Sunday, August 25, is the opening reception of my exhibition at the Cultur’Cafe in Ozolles, Burgundy, France. (http://culturcafe.blogspot.com/) The Cultur’Cafe is the creation of four friends, Fabienne, Philip, Sylvie, and Patrick. It serves as a gathering place for music, art exhibits, and lectures on a variety of topics. Fabienne is the one I know best and she is an amazing woman. A native of France, she also speaks excellent English (luckily for me), and speaks and teaches Chinese. She is also an expert beekeeper and is sometimes called to other countries as an advisor. Fabienne is entrusted with the task of selecting artists to exhibit at the Cultur’Cafe.
I met Fabienne through my dear friend and student, Margaret Thompson, and her husband Ken. They have generously invited me and my husband, Carl Oman, to visit their home in Verquilleux, Burgundy. They have introduced us to their many wonderful French and British friends and included us in the cultural life that is so alive there. Margaret and I have spent many hours in her barn-converted-to-beautiful-studio, happily creating mixed media and collage works. Margaret has had two very successful exhibits at the Cultur’Cafe. She invited Fabienne to come by the studio and see my work, and, delightfully, Fabienne invited me to exhibit.
I will be showing 41 works, many of them quite small: 5″x7″ is the smallest. All works are acrylic, collage, and mixed media – some on paper, and some on stretched canvas. I’m putting almost all of them on this page for you to see. A bit long, but I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Wonderful works Debi. I love lime green and violet sky.
Loving the colors Debi!
I love the 9 x 9 collages. Great energy. Wish I could see them in person!
